Adjoining the Palindrome, the Eaglemount Wine & Cider Tasting Room features award winning wines and hard ciders from Washington's Olympic Peninsula. We were the first local cidery in the region, opening our doors in 2006.
We specialize in naturally grown cider apples from local homestead orchards. Our home orchard was planted in 1883 and is still producing strong without use of chemicals or fertilizers. The source apples make the difference. We feature ciders flavored by naturally grown ingredients, such as rhubarb, quince, ginger, raspberries and hops. Cidermaker Trudy Davis excels at the art of blending these components to make flavorful and balanced ciders that appeal to cider newcomers and connoisseurs alike.
We make the wines that we like to drink: full-bodied, bold fruit, soft tannins and balanced acidity. Most of the grapes are sourced from the Wahluke Slope AVA east of the Cascades, which is one of the warmest parts of the state. We make several different Bordeaux-style blends and single varietals that a broad spectrum of palates enjoy.
The building itself (not including the Palindrome) served for many years as the Port Townsend Yacht Club in its former location in the Boat Haven. It was moved to its current, unlikely location in the late 1980s. We recently uncovered the original fir walls and floors beneath the linoleum and paneling. With a bar that we built from the timber beams of a downtown Seattle building, the room emanates a history and character that goes well with the ciders and wines.
